A new survey by CareerBuilder reveals that 30% of workers have played hooky in the past year.

- 31% of employers say sick calls increase during the winter holiday season

- BE PREPARED: 29% of employers have attempted to verify an illness by requiring a doctor’s note or phoning the worker later in the day

- BEWARE: 17% of employers have fired workers for faking an illness

- 15% of workers have ditched work "to catch up on sleep."
