Train is among an eclectic group of artists who'll be contributing a song to an upcoming album saluting the late John Denver. A Grammy-winning singer, songwriter, humanitarian and sometime actor, Denver died in a plane crash 15 years ago this month. He's best remembered for hits like "Take Me Home Country Roads," "Annie's Song," "Thank God I'm a Country Boy," "Back Home Again" and more.
The tribute album is called The Music Is You: A Tribute to John Denver, and it'll be in stores in February. The song Train is contributing is one of Denver's biggest hits: "Sunshine on My Shoulders." Among the other artists on the collection: rock star Dave Matthews, country star Mary Chapin Carpenter, alternative rockers My Morning Jacket, folk rocker Brandi Carlile, singer-songwriter Lucinda Williams and more.
More artists are expected to be announced in the future for the project. Proceeds from the disc will benefit various environmental initiatives.
